Today, everyday Americans are debating what America’s founders meant by justice and what it means today. What better time to explore what justice means for older Americans and everyone who aspires to live a rich and meaningful lives.

Lisa Nerenberg, MSW, MPH is Executive Director of the California Elder Justice Coalition. She writes and lectures on elder justice and elder abuse, with a focus on multidisciplinary teams, innovations in policy and practice, undue influence, and public health approaches to achieving health equity.  In her Elder Justice, Ageism and Elder Abuse (Springer, 2019), she offers an ecological model for combatting ageism and promoting justice that focuses on individual rights, abuses of power, community engagment, parity within and between communities, and the need for stuctural reforms to combat ageism. In her earlier Elder Abuse Prevention: Emerging Trends and Promising Strategies (Springer, 2008) she describes what the public, government, agencies, and advocates can do to prevent abuse, treat its effects, and ensure justice.
